In 1992, Harvey R. Bullis III and Patricia Bullis assumed leadership of the family business. That same year, Hurricane Andrew devastated South Florida, destroying all of the nursery’s shade houses and the majority of its plant collection. Faced with this unimaginable loss, their resilience was tested, but their dedication carried them forward. Together, they rebuilt Bullis Bromeliads from the ground up, laying the foundation for the thriving operation it is today. Today, Harvey III and Patricia are joined by their sons, Harvey IV and Thomas Bullis, as well as their nephews, Rick and Thomas Guice. Harvey IV is now part of the hybridization team. Together, they ensure that the family traditions of innovation, quality, and outstanding customer service continue to be passed down through generations.
Over the years our team has introduced dozens of bromeliad species and hybrids to the market for the very first time. We proudly grow over 350 species, cultivars, and hybrids across 20 different bromeliad genera throughout the year. Including over 30 patent hybrids. The team remains committed to developing new hybrids and continues to innovate, introducing distinctive bromeliads that bring fresh styles tailored to the evolving needs of our clients. At any given time, more than 300 varieties are available—ranging from bare-root air plants to potted specimens. Our bromeliads are adaptable to a wide range of environments, including full sun, shade, interior applications, and even salt-tolerant conditions. Known for their exceptional quality, our plants are featured in landscapes, interiorscapes, garden centers, and botanical gardens across the United States.
After nearly 50 years of contributing to the bromeliad market, Bullis Bromeliads remains dedicated to its mission: to share the beauty and diversity of bromeliads.
